People with autism are often attracted to water. If you have ever wondered why, it has to do with a lot of the senses. Water brings out a lot of the senses and is a mystery that people with autism would love to learn more about. I love getting answers and I feel like I can find so much out about life just being underwater.

Touch

I love the feeling of stepping into a pool or into the ocean and feeling the ripples of the water. I love getting lost in the water and getting to feel like a sea animal for a little. I would love to learn how to dive to really understand the depth of the ocean. It's so peaceful when I get to swim through the cool water.

Sight

I love seeing people laughing and families enjoying themselves. A lot of people love the beach and the sunsets, but it's so much more than that to me. I love the depth of the ocean and how everything is distorted beneath me. It makes me even more curious about what the world is like in the water. I love watching people on their boats or surfing or whatever it is they're doing. It's soothing to relax and watch them.

Smell

I love the smell of the chlorine and water at the beach. It's so unique and it isn't something I get to be around every day. It's so peaceful to me.

Sound

I love to hear families laughing and talking in the distance. I love the sound of the waves in the breeze. I also love water falling. I love waterfalls. There is something about listening to these sounds that is so soothing to me.

I love the water because I get to escape reality for a little when I go swimming. I get to become a part of another world for a while. There is something about the water that draws us to it. It's hard to put it all in words, but it's a feeling I don't get anywhere else.
